Connect AI assistants

Install and open a version of Mote with MCP support (0.3.0 or later). In Mote, open Settings → AI assistants / MCP and choose Copy MCP configuration. The absolute path reflects where your app is installed.

The connection runs on the same Mac with clients that support local stdio MCP. It cannot connect directly to cloud ChatGPT or Claude on the web.

1. Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or use .cursor/mcp.json in a project.
2. Merge the copied mote entry into the existing mcpServers object without replacing other servers. Paste the full configuration if the file is new.
3. Enable Mote in Cursor MCP settings and check for create_task and list_today_tasks.

The assistant can create tasks and read unfinished tasks due today or overdue. Tasks without a due date are excluded. The interface does not expose clipboard history or arbitrary files.

Mote stores data locally, but a connected assistant may send retrieved tasks to its model provider. Connect only clients you trust. Disable or remove Mote in the client to stop that connection; access is not separately authorized per local process under the same Mac user.

Search for Create Mote Task and Get Today's Mote Tasks in Shortcuts. This downloadable beta is ad-hoc signed and not notarized; in local testing its actions could appear but fail to run. A locally built Apple Development-signed version worked; installation and action execution on other Macs have not been verified.

Check the Mote version, absolute app path and JSON syntax, then quit and reopen your client. If Mote moved, copy the configuration again. If today’s list is empty, check that tasks are unfinished and have a due date of today or earlier.
